Promotion

Rightfully promotion is more than submission of your website to search engines and directories. Unfortunately the word promotion has become synonymous with "search engine submission".

Following this trend we shall store this information about search engine and directory submission in this section on promotion.

Submission Tools:

  • Self Promotion
This is our all time favorite submission service. It is free, well-informed, and the webmaster has a wicked sense of humor. In addition for a small donation they will store submission information for each website which you post. This allows for quick and easy submission on a periodic basis.

  • Jim Tool's Search Engine Submission
A new site we've been working with. Well organized and well-informed. A little dry and maybe a tad slick but well worth a look and definitely should be tried out as a tool in your promotion.

  • Jim Tool's Directory Submission
Pretty well automated one-stop solution for submitting your website to a bingy-bunch of directories. The process is slow. Count on it taking about 10 minutes. However, how long would it take you to submit to a 120 directories by hand?

  • Open Directory Project
An important place to be listed. This site is used by the likes of Lycos and HotBot to grab search data for their websites.

  • Direct Hit
DirectHit is being used by other seach engines such as HotBot and MSN. Thus getting listed here may get you listed elsewhere.

  • Yahoo
Yahoo can be tough to be listed in. But do it. They can account for a great deal of targeted traffic.

  • Promotion Index
This is a rather large list of sites involved in promotions. Before jumping into every site on the list please consider that 98% of all promotion sites and free tools generate a huge load of spam. If you can use a "throw-away" email address. But even better is being selective about which services you use. ;-)
